Why Do My People Call Me a Sadist and Tell the Lost I Will Torment Them Forever?

Why Do My People Call Me a Sadist and Tell the Lost I Will Torment Them Forever?

Would Jesus say something like this to the church today?

Is His gift of eternal life not good enough? Do people think they have to scare the lost into His arms with a heinous threat of eternal torture? The disciple John never tried to scare people in his gospel account or his letters in this way, nor did Paul.

God used the clearest words He could throughout His word:

–That those who live a lifestyle of unrepentant sin deserve DEATH—Romans 1:32
–That all who sin apart from the law will also PERISH apart from the law— Romans 2:12
–That sin leads to DEATH—Romans 6:16
–That sin results in DEATH—Romans 6:21
–That the wages of sin is DEATH—Romans 6:23
–That those who live according to the sinful nature will DIE—Romans 8:13
–That the gospel is foolishness to those who are PERISHING—1 Corinthians 1:18
–That in Adam all DIE—1 Corinthians 15:22
–That those who preach the gospel are the smell of DEATH to those who are perishing—2 Corinthians 2:15-16
–That the Old Testament law “kills” and ultimately brings “DEATH”—2 Corinthians 3:6-7
–That the gospel is veiled to those who are PERISHING—2 Corinthians 4:3
–That those who please the sinful nature “from that nature will reap DESTRUCTION – Galations 6:8
–That they will be DESTROYED—Philippians 1:28
–That their destiny is DESTRUCTION—Philippians 3:19
–That they will be punished with everlasting DESTRUCTION—2 Thessalonians 1:9
–That they are PERISHING—2 Thessalonians 2:10
–That they PERISH because they refused to love the truth and so be saved— 2 Thessalonians 2:10
–That Christ Jesus… has destroyed DEATH—2 Timothy 1:10
–That they are like worthless land that will in the end… be BURNED—Hebrews 6:8
–That sins are acts that lead to DEATH—Hebrews 9:14
–That raging fire will CONSUME the enemies of God—Hebrews 10:27
–That those who shrink back in unbelief will be DESTROYED—Hebrews 10:39

Why do people change His words, perish, death, die, destruction, destroy, and turn them into “eternal torment in hell”?

nullilfy-the-word-of-God

They are just like the Pharisees Jesus dealt with while on earth:

“Thus you nullify the word of God for the sake of your tradition. You hypocrites! Isaiah was right when he prophesied about you:

‘These people honor me with their lips,
but their hearts are far from me.
   They worship me in vain;
their teachings are but rules taught by men.'”  (Matt 15:6-9)

These people love their Tradition of eternal torment more than the love God. They nullify God’s words by changing the clear meaning of them.

Jesus told us that His Father can DESTROY both SOUL and BODY in hell.” (Matt 10:28-29) Why do they claim humans have immortality without the gift of eternal life?

Didn’t God prevent Adam and Eve from taking the tree of life and living forever? Didn’t He kick them out of the garden to prevent that?(Gen 3:21-24)

As clearly stated in God’s word, “God…alone is immortal.” (1 Timothy 6:15-16)  Didn’t the servant, Paul, tell you that it is Jesus, “who has destroyed death and has brought life and immortality to light through the gospel.” (2 Timothy 1:10)  He also told you, “For the perishable must clothe itself with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality.” (1 Corinthians 15:53-54)

Humans are not created with immortal souls. They are perishable and mortal until God gives them the gift of immortality. The teaching of the immortal soul is like the devil who was the first to lie about it:  “‘You will not surely die,’ the serpent said to the woman.” (Gen 3:4)

Please tell them to stop slandering God’s character and spreading falsehoods to the lost. It is a stumbling block to tell people something contradictory: That God loves them but will torture them and their family and friends forever.

Yes the devil, beast, and false prophet will be tormented in the lake of fire forever. They are spiritual creatures…not human creatures.

Yes, there will be a final judgment as written in God’s word:

“Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. Earth and sky fled from his presence, and there was no place for them. And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books. The sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, and each person was judged according to what he had done. Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. The LAKE OF FIRE IS THE SECOND DEATH. If anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire. (Rev 20:11-15)

The lake of fire (hell) is where I will destroy death, and Hades/Sheol, and those who are not written in the book of life. Doesn’t it clearly say in 1 Corinthians 15:26-27, “The last enemy to be DESTROYED is death.”

Yes God’s judgment will be very unpleasant, as He has warned, and people will be sad and angry, weeping and gnashing their teeth, but He never said they will weep and gnash forever!

The first death is the physical death of a human body. The second death is the destruction of the human soul. God is not going to torture unbelievers for all eternity. That would be evil and God is not evil. There is no justice in eternal torturing. God’s eternal punishment is eternal death…the opposite of life…where unbelievers will cease to exist and be eternally dead. There is no resurrection from the second death.

It is the hardness of human hearts that desires God to torture unbelievers forever.

When Jesus told the parable of the rich man and Lazarus, He was speaking of Hades/Sheol (which I will destroy in the lake of fire, Rev 20:14) and He was pointing out that the rich do not automatically get eternal life. He was also pointing out that even after His resurrection, many will not believe in Him. He never meant it to imply eternal torture…that is completely against God’s loving and merciful nature.

Repent and stop spreading the lie of eternal torment, for you too will be held accountable to God on judgment day.

This says what I have been thinking. I believe this. I would like to re-write it to where it is not written as though Jesus was saying it. I do not like to put words into the mouth of God. I do believe that all of this is true. You could write another version that says “Jesus did not mean . . .” instead of “I did not mean . . .”

Troy, my thoughts exactly. Thank you for suggesting it. I much prefer this version.

Thank you for this website which I believe because of spiritual proof and common sense.
